Ummm, yum? I think...

So I decided to try something new today, perhaps you've seen it on the shelf in the supermarket: Naked brand "SuperFood". It's a drink. Called food. Weird.

The variety I selected was called "Green Machine". Looking at it, it's a greenish-brown slurry. Morbid curiosity led me to inspect it closer, and I noticed this on the side:

"Looks weird." Sip.
"Tastes amazing." Sip.
"Hey, 10 green turbo-nutrients?" Sip.
"Still looks weird."

And I have to admire a company willing to poke fun at their own product, so I grabbed the bottle and headed to the checkstand, not really sure what I should expect.

I got back to the office, looked at the bottle a little closer, and noted the ingredients:

Apples
Banana
Kiwi fruit
Mango
A hint of pineapple

Okay, sounds good. A bit of a mix, but it might be okay. But here's where it goes a but strange, as the ingredients continue:
Spirulina
Chlorella
Broccoli
Spinach
Blue green algae
Garlic (Garlic in a drink? Really??)
Barley grass
Wheat grass
Ginger
Parsley

At this point it sounds more like a salad than a drink.
And now, having downed most of it, I'm still not sure what to think of this product. Interesting taste, but the aftertaste faintly reminds me of the flavor left behind after you've just had a mouthful of seawater.

Clarification/disclaimer for last post

No, I did not try to use that line. I was being urged to by a friend, but I was able to recognize it for what it was: a Really Bad Idea (c).

Karaoke contest, part ad nauseum

Okay, so I wound up with a three-way tie out of the songs that I tossed up on Thursday night/Friday morning.

So, I'm tossing all of them and going with All Summer Long by Kid Rock. So there.

Attention Valley Denizens!

I will be showing up this weekend armed with girl scout cookies!

Unfortunately, they've discontinued the variety that's made with real girl scouts, bit I did manage to procure Tagalongs, Thin mints, Dulce de Leche, Samoas, and Lemon Cremes.

If your lips are chapped, avoid citrus!

So. Several months ago, when I first started going out to the Valley for karaoke, I found myself somewhat attracted to one of the other regulars. Since she often sat alone, I would join her from time to time and engage in idle chat. About a month and a half ago, I decided that the next time I saw her, I would ask her out.
That was the last time I saw her.

...until last night. She saw me before I saw her, and greeted me. I sat down with her for a moment and chatted some more, and then she introduced me to...

...her husband.

*hangs head*

Dammit dammit dammit!!
